Privacy Policy

QELAL ("we", "us") aggregates public Ethiopian tender notices and lets you receive alerts before deadlines. This policy explains what we store and how to remove it. It applies to the website (https://tenders.qelal.et), the Android app, and the Telegram bot.
What we collect
- Your email address — when you create an account or subscribe to alerts.
- Alert criteria — the categories, regions, and keywords you choose to be notified about, and your saved tenders.
- Delivery identifiers — a Telegram chat ID (if you link Telegram) and/or a browser push subscription (if you enable push notifications on a device). A push subscription is an anonymous endpoint provided by your browser; it does not identify you personally.
- Basic technical data — standard request logs (IP, user-agent) kept only for security and abuse prevention.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your location, contacts, or photos. The Android app contains no advertising or third-party tracking SDKs. We do not run advertising anywhere, and we never build advertising profiles or sell data. The website uses analytics, which you control — see Analytics.
How we use it
Only to deliver the service: to send you the tender alerts and reminders you asked for (by email, Telegram, and/or push notification) and to keep the service secure. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Analytics
We measure how the website is used, so we can tell which tenders people are looking for and where the site is failing them. You decide whether that includes you, and you can change your mind later.
- Google Analytics (property G-167R8ECT78), loaded with
Google Consent Mode. Before you answer the banner the tag is present but
every storage permission is set to denied: no cookies are read
or written and no analytics identifier is created for you. Google does
still receive the request for the tag itself — your IP address, browser
user-agent and the page address — in the same way as any other file your
browser fetches. If you accept, analytics cookies (
_ga) are set and ordinary measurement begins. If you decline, it stays denied. - PostHog, which we host ourselves on this domain rather than sending you to a third party. It does not load at all until you accept.
Advertising and personalisation storage are denied permanently, for everyone, whatever you choose — we run no advertising.
Your current choice
Withdrawing stops PostHog and tells Google Analytics to deny storage again from that moment. It cannot retroactively delete what was already collected; email us if you want that removed too.
Notifications
Push notifications are sent only for alerts you opted into. You can turn them off at any time from your device settings or by disabling push in your account. Disabling push deletes the associated push subscription.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your data at any time:
- Remove individual alerts or saved tenders from My alerts.
- Disable push notifications to delete your push subscription.
- To delete your account and all associated data, email us at the address below and we will remove it.
Expired push subscriptions are pruned automatically.
Third parties
Notifications are delivered through your operating system / browser's push service (for Android, Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging transport) and, if you link it, Telegram. Email is sent via our email provider. These services only receive what is necessary to deliver a message.
Google also receives website analytics data as described under Analytics, subject to your choice there.
