Inclusive Ethiopia is seeking qualified construction companies to undertake minor physical accessibility modifications at two schools: Sirly Primary School (Kallty Sub-City) and Dagmawi Menelik Primary School (Arada Sub-City).

Invitation for Quotations:- School Accessibility Modification Works

Inclusive Ethiopia is an organization of persons with disabilities working to promote and protect the rights, inclusion and full participation of persons with disabilities.

As part of Us Accessibility Promotion Programme. Inclusive Ethiopia plans to undertake minor physical accessibility modifications to create safer, more inclusive and disability friendly learning environments for students with disabilities at the following schools:

1. Sirly Primary School. Kallty Sub-City

2. Dagmawi Menelik Primary School. Arada Sub-City

Inclusive Ethiopia therefore invites eligible and qualified construction companies to submit technical and financial proposals for the accessibility modification works listed below:

Site-1:- SIRTY Primary School
Details of the Work

1. Ramp Construction No. 1 (Main Entrance)

Construct one concrete accessible ramp with the following specifications:

• Clear ramp width: 1.50 m
• Total ramp length: 15.00 m
• Maximum ramp slope: 8% (1:12 or 4.57°)
• Provide two intermediate level landings, each measuring 1.50 m × 1.50 m, located at intervals not exceeding 6.00 m.
• Provide continuous handrails on both sides of the ramp at heights of 700 mm and 900 mm above the ramp surface.

Handrail construction:

• Posts: 50 x 50 x 2.0 mm RHS steel sections
• Rails: 30 x 30 x 2.0 mm RHS steel sections

Construct 1.50 m long drainage crossing using 300 mm diameter precast reinforced concrete pipe.

Construct 6.00 m of concrete-lined half drainage ditch adjacent to the ramp.

2. Ramp Construction No. 2 (Rear Side)

Construct one concrete accessible ramp with the following specifications:

• Clear ramp width: 1.10 m
• Total ramp length: 9.00 m
• Maximum ramp slope: 8% (1:12 or 4.57°)
• Provide one intermediate landing measuring 1.50 m x 1.50 m at 6.00 m from the ramp start.
• Provide continuous handrails on both sides at heights of 700 mm and 900 mm.
• Handrail construction:
• Posts: 50 x 50 x 2.0 mm RHS
• Rails: 30 x 30 x 2.0 mm RHS

3. Ramp Construction No. 3 (Cafeteria)

Construct one accessible concrete ramp with the following specifications:

• Clear ramp width: 1.60 m
• Total ramp length: 5.00 m
• Maximum ramp slope: 8% (1:12 or 4.57°)
• Provide continuous handrails on one side of the new ramp at heights of 700 mm and 900 mm.

Handrail construction:

• Posts: 50 x 50 x 2.0 mm RHS
• Rails: 30 x 30 x 2.0 mm RHS

Install an additional 8.00 m length of matching steel handrail on the existing adjacent ramp.

4. Ramp Construction No. 4 (Access to Toilet)

Construct two terrazzo-finished accessible ramp with the following specifications:

• Clear ramp width: 1.60 m
• Total ramp length: 9.50 m
• Maximum ramp slope: 8% (1:12 or approximately 4.57°)
• Provide one Intermediate landing measuring 1.60 mx 1.50 m after 6.00 m of ramp length.
• Finish the ramp with terrazzo flooring.

5. Accessible Walkway Construction No. 1 (Toilet Access Path)

Construct an accessible pedestrian walkway with the following specifications:

• Clear walkway width: 1.20 m
• Total length: 18.00 m
• Finish: Cement screed

7. Accessible Men's Toilet Construction

Construct one fully accessible toilet by combining two adjacent existing toilet cubicles. 

The works shall include:

• Demolition and alteration works as required.
• New entrance door with:
• Minimum clear opening width: 900 mm
• Door height: 2.00 m
• Installation of one Western-style WC
• WC seat height:
• 450-500 mm above finished floor level
• Install horizontal and vertical stainless steel grab bars adjacent to the WC at heights between 700-850 mm above finished floor level.

8. Accessible Women's Toilet Maintenance

Carry out maintenance and upgrading works to the existing accessible toilet facility, including:

Install a new entrance door with providing

• Minimum clear opening width: 900 mm
• Door height: 2.00 m

Install a new WC flushing mechanism (flush tank/button assembly).

Site-2: Dagmawi Minilek Primary School
Details of the Works

1. Ramp Construction No. 1 (Entrance to Corridor)

Construct one concrete accessible ramp with the following specifications:

• Clear ramp width: 1.10 m
• Total ramp length: 4.30 m
• Maximum ramp slope: 8% (1:12 or 4.57")
• Provide a top landing measuring 1.10 mx 1.50 m at the entrance, Provide continuous handrails on both sides of the ramp at heights of 700 mm and 900 mm above the ramp surface.

Handrail construction:

• Posts: 50 x 50 x 2.0 mm RHS steel sections
• Rails: 30 x 30 x 2.0 mm RHS steel sections

2. Ramp Construction No. 2 (Corridor to Toilet Unit)

Modify and reconstruct the existing accessible ramp with the following specifications:

• Clear ramp width: 2.00 m
• Total ramp length: 13.00 m
• Construct the ramp using reinforced concrete with cement screed finish.
  Install a 2.00 m long, 300 mm diameter precast reinforced concrete circular drainage pipe across the ramp alignment to ensure proper drainage.

3. Maintenance of Circulation Path Around Toilet Units

Carry out maintenance and improvement works to the circulation path surrounding the toilet blocks, including:

• Construct a new reinforced concrete walkway measuring 2.30 m wide x 10.00 m long, finished with cement screed.
• Repair and maintain the existing surrounding pathway measuring 3.00 m wide x 8.00 m long by:

4. Accessible Toilet Unit Maintenance

Carry out maintenance works to four (4) existing accessible toilet units, including:

• Replace and install new WC flushing mechanisms (flush buttons/flush assemblies) for all accessible toilet units.

Interested companies should submit:

• A valid business license and construction registration
• Tax Identification Number and VAT registration certificate, where applicable
• Company profile and evidence of similar work
• Proposed methodology and implementation schedule
• Detailed bill of quantities and financial quotation
• Contact details for relevant references
• Proposed warranty or defect-liability period
• Any other documents specified in the bidding package
