1. Background & Rationale
Reach for Change is implementing the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship in Ethiopia, supporting high-potential ventures to scale solutions that improve access to inclusive and quality education.
The three-day EdTech Investment Forum 2026 is designed as a conversion platform: investment readiness targeted investor engagement + potential deal facilitation. It will bring together Fellows from Cohorts 1-3, investors and other ecosystem actors.com
- Address investment-readiness gaps in financials, business models, scalability and capital strategy.
- Help ventures understand investor categories and identify the right capital for their stage, business model and financing needs.
- Strengthen deal preparedness and pathways to capital and market access.
2. Purpose & Objectives
Reach for Change seeks an experienced Investment Consultant to design and deliver a two-day investment-readiness boot camp for approximately 36 Fellows and support targeted investor engagement on Day 3.
- Strengthen pitch, financial, growth-strategy and capital-planning readiness.
- Build Fellows' ability to articulate bankable growth and funding strategies.
- Build understanding of investor types, criteria, requirements and appropriate investor fit.
- Prepare Fellows for due diligence and effective investor engagement.
- Improve investment narratives and tailor pitches to relevant investor profiles.
- Support effective investor-startup profiling, matchmaking and engagement.
3. Scope of Work
A. Days 1-2:Capacity Development
- Co-design and facilitate a practical two-day boot camp aligned with the Ethiopian investment landscape and Fellows' different stages of growth.
- Core content: investor expectations; business models/unit economics; financial readiness; capital strategy, investor segmentation and fit; due diligence/data room; impact; go-to-market; pitch development; negotiation.
- Run hands-on clinics on pitch decks, financial modelling, investor-fit assessment and investment narratives, with structured feedback.
B. Pitch Selection & Readiness their
- Support screening and selection of the top 10-12 investment-ready ventures for Day 3.
- Assess venture stage, financing needs, business model and investor fit.
- Help selected Fellows tailor propositions and pitch materials to participating investor profiles.
- Recommend/validate a minimum investor-readiness document checklist and ensure Fellows are prepared for engagement.
C. Day 3: Investor Engagement & Deal Facilitation
- Support identification and mobilization of relevant investors and financing providers.
- Profile investors by thesis, stage, sector, ticket size, instrument, geography, return and impact expectations.
- Match Fellows with appropriate investors and structure targeted deal rooms, pitches and 1:1 meetings.
- Support tailored presentations, real-time feedback and identification of promising opportunities for post-Forum follow-up.
4.Expected Deliverables
- Capacity-development plan, modules, methodologies and practical tools.
- Facilitation of the two-day boot camp and breakout clinics.
- Pitch-deck review, selection input and investor-fit assessment.
- Investor profiling, matching and deal-room support.
- Post-event brief with investor feedback,
- recommendations and priority follow-up opportunities.
- The Forum aims to connect well-prepared EdTech
5.ConsultantProfile
- Strong experience in impact investing, venture
- finance/capital, private equity, investment banking or startup advisory.
- Track record in investment readiness, capital raising and capacity development.
- Understanding of investor categories, instruments and venture-stage requirements.
- Experience with early/growth-stage ventures; EdTech or impact sectors preferred.
- Relevant investor networks, matchmaking,
- facilitation and coaching skills; Ethiopia/Africa experience is an advantage.
6.ProposalRequirements & Timing Submit:
Technical proposal: approach, methodology, training structure and practical exercises.
Approach to Fellow readiness assessment, investor profiling, mobilization and matchmaking.
Financial proposal and relevant experience/portfolio. Availability for the preparatory period and Forum dates.
Forum dates: 29 September-1 October 2026. Three days: two days capacity development + one day targeted investor engagement, with preparatory work in advance.
The Forum aims to connect well-prepared EDTech ventures with the rights inventors and Convert targeted engagement in to meaning full investment, partnership and marke to opportunities.
