Call for Individual Consultant

The Ethiopian Sustainable Food System and Agroecology Consortium, is launching a youth competition and media engagement activity aimed at empowering young people in Addis Ababa to embrace agroecology, highlight importance of indigenous food systems, and foster sustainable entrepreneurship. For this, we seek an Individual Consultant to support the end-to-end delivery of this youth competition.

1) Support Youth Engagement in Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems

Scope of Assignment: the selected consultant will: coordinate the design and rollout of the call for youth competition; prepare and managing communication materials and media engagement; facilitate the application, screening & selection processes; organize training sessions for top 10 finalists; coordinate the award event; facilitate connections with youth, mentors and jury members; support in planning and facilitating the final award event, organize logistics and media engagement; and provide documentation throughout the process and compile completion report.

Key Qualifications:

Proven experience working with youth, agroecology, or sustainable food systems; Strong communication and coordination skills (Amharic and English); Experience managing competitions, training, or campaigns; and familiarity with digital tools (Google Forms, Canvas, social media, etc.). Background in development, agriculture, or communication is a plus.

Deliverables:

(1) Competition strategy and work plan; (2) Reports on applicant statistics and demographics; Jury scoring methodology and scores of finalists; as well as training and mentoring of finalists; (3) Successfully organizing the award event, and (4) Final report highlighting key outcomes and success stories; media reach, lessons learned, and recommendations for future considerations.

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Timeline: 3 months; Early June - Mid September 2025.
