Construction of a Six-Seat Student Pit Latrine at Babogaya Primary School

1. Background

Three Roots International (TRI) is a development organization supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families through integrated education. health, economic strengthening, and community-led development programs.

2. Purpose of the Bid

TRI invites qualified and legally registered contractors to submit bids for the construction of a six-seat pit latrine for Babogaya Primary School, located in Bishoftu City Administration, Arsedi Woreda, Godeti Village. TRI seeks the contractor to provide the skilled labor, supervision, tools, equipment, and workmanship required to construct the facility safely. professionally, and according to the required standards.

3. Scope of Work

The works include site preparation and excavation; foundations and concrete works; masonry/walls and partitions; roofing: plumbing and drainage: plastering and flooring; painting; doors and fixtures; ventilation; external works; finishing, cleaning, and handover. The facility shall comprise six seats (three front and three rear), providing appropriate privacy, safety, ventilation, and functionality. All works must comply with the BoQ, approved drawings/designs, technical specifications, and TRI instructions.

4. Contractor's requirement

• Hold a valid Ethiopian construction/service license, registration, and tax documentation.
• Have relevant experience in latrines, sanitation facilities, small buildings, or similar works.
• A Provide evidence of at least two similar completed projects and two client references with contact details.
• Have qualified workers and the capacity to mobilize and complete the work within the required schedule.
• State the proposed construction period (number of days) and defect-liability period.

5. Supervision, Completion and Defects

The contractor will work under TRI supervision, provide progress updates, coordinate material requirements, and cooperate with inspections. The project will be accepted after all BoQ works are completed, the facility is safe, functional, clean, and free of identified defects. Defects caused by poor workmanship or improper installation during the agreed defect-liability period must be corrected at no additional cost to TRI.

6. Bid Submission Instructions

Interested contractors must submit the following documents in person at the TRI head office The Bill of Quantities (BoQ) must be collected from the TRI head office prior to submission.
