Organization summary

Direct aid is an international Relief and development organization established and base in Kuwait. The main objective of direct aid is to provide development and charity service to the needy community in health, education, water and relief service in time of emergency.

JOB PURPOSE

Due to the significant social and economic impact of avoidable blindness, Direct Aid Organization plans to continue implementing cataract surgical campaigns in different regions of Ethiopia to support the country's efforts to reduce preventable blindness and contribute to its development goals.

For the year 2026, Direct Aid aims to screen approximately 6,000 patients and perform 600 cataract surgeries with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in accordance with recognized medical standards.

To ensure the efficient implementation of this campaign, Direct Aid hereby invites qualified and experienced service providers to undertake the complete planning and implementation of the cataract surgical campaign. The successful certified applicant shall be responsible for providing and managing all required human resources, medicines, medical supplies, equipment, transportation, accommodation, logistics, community mobilization, advertising, patient screening, surgical services, and all other resources necessary for the successful completion of the campaign.

Interested applicants must submit detailed information demonstrating their qualifications, relevant experience, technical capacity, and achievements in implementing similar cataract screening and surgical campaign programs.

DISCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The job expected from the expertise team will be included but is not limited to the following tasks

A. Develop and forward project proposal of the campaign and forward the action plan with timetable.

B. Forward detailed information about the participant as a team and their relevant patents they have developed in similar campaign.

C. Conduct community mobilization sensitization through mass media and routine information communication systems.

D. Screening of patients for operable cataract.

E. Conduct cataract surgeries with intraocular lens insertion in the standard of recommended level.

F. Carry out post operative follow-up for operated patients in the first and fourth week of the first day of surgery.

G. Harmonize and manage the day-to-day project implementation, any change to the proposed action plan shall be informed against letter of amendment.

H. Forward a guiding document clearly setting out the lists of ophthalmic instruments, medical supplies and related material that will be required for best accomplishment of this campaign.

I. Provide professional and technical assistance as required purchasing medical supplies.

J. Make activity progress report on daily, weekly bas for the head of Direct Aid in possible means of communication.

K. The final performance written report will be submitted one week after completion of the campaign.

L. Attend relevant meetings or represent Direct Aid to government and to other tasks holder specific to this campaign activity as required.

REQUERMENTS

The applicant should have legally registered renewal license and TIN number

1. The expertise team should include at list the following professional as team members, one team leader, five ophthalmologists with their curb nurses, three ophthalmic officers, cataract surgeon, five ophthalmic nurse, ten general Nerses, and other necessary professional and administrative members.

2. The team leader of the expertise team shall have a minimum of five years' experience in postgraduate degree in ophthalmology, which at list 5 years as a manager for eye care program and eye care clinical service preferable in tertiary eye care unit and cataract campaign.

3. The applicant shall forward the team members relevant credentials and Experience in similar campaign.

4. The applicant should have sound knowledge of ethical and experienced professional's cataract surgery campaign team.

5. The team leader of the expertise team shall have demonstrated high quality organizational, managerial and decision-making skills.

APPLICATIONS

Applicants should send all necessary documents and credentials that are stated below

a) A cover letter resumes relevant documents and testimonials and the names and address (including telephone, and email) of three referees knowledgeable about the candidate's professional qualifications and experience (but not related to the applicant) together with a short cover letter summarizing your major achievements in cataract surgical companies.

b) Technical original and copy proposal that should have the overall strategy to conduct the campaign detail and sequential activity plan and human resources detail that will be assigned for the work included the detailed information about the engagement professional and team organization.

c) Financial Proposal original and copy

The applicant shall submit an all-inclusive financial proposal covering the full cost of the cataract camp, including human resources, medicines, medical supplies and equipment, mobilization, transportation, accommodation, logistics, patient care, and all other related expenses.

The applicant shall bear full responsibility for providing all resources required for the successful completion of the camp, with no additional or hidden costs to the Organization beyond the agreed contract value.

d) Copy of renewal license and TIN certificate.
